What Is The Scheme?

Insulating your home is one of the most effective ways to reduce energy bills by preventing heat loss through walls and the roof. However, the upfront cost can be prohibitive for many.

The Great British Insulation Scheme, funded by the government, is designed to help eligible individuals install home insulation, potentially saving households around £300 per year on energy bills. This initiative aims to assist approximately 300,000 people, offering free or reduced-cost insulation.

Unlike other programs, the Great British Insulation Scheme provides significant support for those with the lowest incomes and extends assistance to a broader group of households living in the least energy-efficient homes in the country.

Eligibility Criteria

Our professional fitters only use KNAUF products, which are highly durable and are known for their excellent energy-saving qualities. The recommended depth of loft insulation is 300mm so even if you already have insulation, you may need a top up.
Insulating your loft is an excellent and cost effective way to enable your home to keep a more consistent and comfortable temperature throughout the year. Made even more affordable with funding from schemes like the the Great British Insulation Scheme.

Cavity Wall Insulation

Cavity wall insulation is one of the best and most affordable ways to improve your home's energy efficiency.

Houses in the UK mostly have either cavity walls or solid walls:

Cavity walls are made of two layers with a gap or ‘cavity’ between them. If your home was built after the 1920s, it's likely to have cavity wall

Solid walls have no gap, so they can’t be filled with cavity wall insulation. If your home was built before the 1920s, it's likely the external walls are solid walls rather than cavity walls

Cavity walls can be insulated by injecting insulation into the cavity from the outside through drill holes in the outside walls. Insulation is usually mineral wool or polystyrene beads, or polyurethane foam. Cavity Wall Insulation comes with a 25 year guarantee, and it should pay for itself many times over in its lifetime.

Do I Have Cavity Walls?
Here are some common ways to tell if your property has a cavity wall:

- It was built after 1920; homes built within the last 40 years almost certainly do
- It has walls more than 260mm thick
- It has brickwork like the example below

You may qualify for a grant for cavity wall insulation, ask us for further details.
